When spam and virus emails started becoming a big problem at Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht, they began searching for an anti-virus / anti-spam solution that would be easy to manage. At the time, they were using Novell GroupWise and decided to use GWAVA.
With over 2100 email users, Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht needed a cost-effective solution that let users manage their own spam. GWAVA was the best choice. They installed and successfully used GWAVA for GroupWise for some time before they decided to switch email systems to Microsoft Exchange.
Netflex, our GWAVA Premium Partner, was able to shift gears quickly and supply us with a new license right away.
At the time they decided to migrate their email system to Exchange, the school was running GroupWise 8 with GWAVA 5. They began their testing with GWAVA on their newly constructed Exchange mail environment and after some minor tweaking, found that GWAVA worked great with Exchange. The actual migration took about two weeks.
“We loved that GWAVA was able to make the switch to Exchange with us,” said Martin Roberti. “The interface is familiar and our users know how to use it, making the migration easier.”
They are also pleased that GWAVA has consistently provided outstanding protection against spam, viruses and malware – crucial in any environment and even more so in education.
Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht has about 1000 clients:
Their server environment consists mainly of Windows 2008R2 servers with some Windows 2003 servers and about 5 Linux servers. Most servers run virtualized with Citrix XenServer. They have three Exchange servers and one GWAVA server with about 2100 GWAVA users.
